An offshore wind project has entered a new construction phase in Dundee where the project will use V236-15MW turbines, which are among the largest models being installed in the UK.

The project will deploy 72 turbines with components being delivered to the Port of Dundee for assembly, commissioning and shipment to the offshore site.

More than 130 workers are expected to operate across the 170,000-square-metre port facility, where 576 turbine components will be handled.

The towers will also be assembled quayside, the tallest reaching 127.4 metres which is the same as the Glasgow Tower, the tallest freestanding building in Scotland.

The first sections arrived in early August, with further deliveries expected through September. Offshore installations are scheduled to begin in November.

Other construction activity is also progressing, including foundation preparations in Invergordon and ongoing cable installation.

The project represents another significant step in Scotland’s expansion of offshore wind capacity.
