Big Motoring World has introduced Jigcar’s AI-powered transport platform to manage up to 200 vehicle movements a day across its used car supermarket network.
The independent used car supermarket group has replaced manual, paper-based processes with Jigcar’s Transport Management System, which brings planning, route optimisation, driver communication and proof-of-collection and delivery into one centralised system.
Big Motoring World operates across 11 retail locations and five vehicle preparation centres, with movements taking place from auction houses and prep centres to retail dealerships and between its own locations.
Stock movement control
The platform is being used to optimise vehicle movements across internal drivers and third party transport providers.
At Big Motoring World’s Peterborough vehicle preparation centre, a live check-in app now timestamps every vehicle on arrival, regardless of origin.
That data feeds into a prep-to-transport dashboard, allowing the group to track vehicles through appraisal, preparation and onward dispatch.
The system is now being rolled out across Big Motoring World’s other preparation and retail locations.
Jigcar is also automating the import of vehicle purchase data from auction sources, reducing manual administration from buying through to delivery.
The deployment comes as Big Motoring World continues to expand, including the recent opening of a 13-acre flagship car supermarket in Warrington with space for up to 1,000 vehicles.
AI logistics savings
Elliott Perks, chief executive and co-founder of Jigcar, said: “As a fast-growing and high-volume business, Big Motoring World identified a need to utilise Jigcar’s AI-powered TMS to fully optimise and streamline its vehicle movements.
“Jigcar is providing the business with real-time centralised visibility of costs and performance across all its retail sites and prep centres, delivering the most cost-effective solution for every single vehicle movement.”
Paul Fleming, operational excellence director of Big Motoring World, said: “As our business expands, the need to achieve greater optimisation, visibility and cost savings across in-house and third party vehicle movements increases.
“Jigcar’s TMS has delivered this by fully digitising the high volume of vehicle movements we make each day as we source stock, move vehicles in and out of our prep centres and around our retail stores.
“Our bottom line vehicle movement savings are already considerable and continue to grow, enabling us to concentrate on retailing cars to customers across the country.”
Jigcar was established in 2024 by former Cazoo colleagues Perks and Rupert Wood to provide AI-driven transport software for multi-site dealer groups, car supermarkets and transport providers.
The company works with AM100 dealer groups including Hendy Group, Glyn Hopkin, Steven Eagell and Perrys, and has raised £4 million from investors including Concept Ventures and Triple Point.
