EDF Small Business has launched a new £25,000 sustainability grant programme to help UK small businesses invest in greener technologies and reduce emissions.
The Powering Local Businesses Sustainability Grant has been created in partnership with Enterprise Nation, with support from business technology and payments platform Square.
Five businesses will each receive a £5,000 grant to fund sustainability improvements. A further five businesses will also receive a workplace electric vehicle charger, including standard installation, supplied by Pod, EDF’s EV charging company.
The funding can be used for projects including energy efficient equipment upgrades, improving the energy performance of business premises, installing renewable technologies such as solar panels or battery storage, or adding workplace EV charging infrastructure.
The programme is open to UK businesses with fewer than 50 employees that have been trading for at least 12 months and operate from a physical business premises.
Claire Nutt, Director of Small Business at EDF, said: “Small businesses are at the heart of the UK economy, but many face barriers when it comes to investing in sustainability.”
Aaron Asadi, CEO of Enterprise Nation, added: “Small businesses have the ambition to become more sustainable, but access to funding can often hold them back. By partnering with EDF Small Business, we’re giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to invest in changes that are good for their business and good for the environment.”
Applications will be assessed by an independent judging panel, with successful businesses contacted directly by Enterprise Nation.
Businesses can apply for the grant, the EV charger or both. Applications are open until 31 August.
