Interest in used EVs from independent dealers rose significantly in the second quarter of 2026, according to new data from G3 Vehicle Auctions.

The company said independent dealer purchases of used EVs rose by 44% year-on-year during the quarter, which it attributed to dealers seeing increased customer demand for these vehicles.

Overall, the volume of used EVs offered for sale at G3 rose by 37% year-on-year, while conversion rates were up by 22%.

G3 said EVs were currently achieving an average auction price of £16,250, at an average age of 5.6 years and an average mileage of 64,000 miles.

It said lower-cost EVs were attracting significant attention, with sub-£10,000 Tesla Model 3s with over 100,000 miles on the clock among the fastest-selling models at auction and regularly featuring in G3’s ‘most tracked vehicles’ metrics.

From the five-to-ten-year-old vehicle category, the Renault Zoe is said to be attracting considerable buyer interest, with an average price of £2,650 and an average of 6.7 bidders per vehicle.

Increased EV availability expected

Gareth Jones, managing director at G3, said: “The used EV market in Q2 has been one of the strongest we’ve ever seen. We are seeing increased demand from independent dealers and consistently high conversion rates whenever quality electric stock drives through the lanes.

“Looking ahead to Q3 and Q4, we expect to see a significant increase in the availability of nearly-new fleet and lease electric vehicles, alongside a growing volume of finance house vehicles now entering the wholesale market.

“This influx of stock is set to provide excellent value for consumers, particularly within the sub-£10,000 price bracket, further improving affordability and choice across the used car market.”

Bassel Affoury, owner of independent dealer Quality Part X, said: “We’ve seen a real shift over the last three months. EVs are no longer niche – they’re a core part of our forecourt.

“Customers are actively asking for them, and auctions are where we can still find good value for these used vehicles.”
