Dacia has cut the price of its all-electric Spring to £11,990 on-the-road, making the city car the UK’s most affordable new car.

The move strengthens Dacia’s position at the entry point of the new car market, where affordability remains one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption.

Dacia said production efficiencies and its continued focus on value have allowed it to pass savings directly to customers.

At a glance

  • £11,990 starting price for Dacia Spring
  • £12,990 for Spring Extreme Electric 100
  • Up to 140 miles WLTP combined range
  • 20-80% charge in as little as 29 minutes
  • 308-litre boot, rising to 1,004 litres with rear seats folded
  • 100hp motor on Extreme Electric 100

The Spring Extreme Electric 100 is now priced from £12,990 on-the-road, putting the higher-powered version only £1,000 above the entry model.

Value message sharpens

The price cut gives dealers a sharper affordability message at a time when many buyers remain cautious about switching to electric cars, particularly where upfront cost, charging access and range remain concerns.

Despite the lower price, Dacia said all Spring models continue to include air conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors, a digital instrument display and its Media Control system with steering wheel-mounted controls.

The Extreme Electric 100 adds a 100hp motor, 10.1-inch Media Nav Live with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, vehicle-to-load functionality, copper-accented styling, electric rear windows and a reversing camera.

Spring gains EV updates

The latest Spring has recently been refreshed with more powerful motors, a new LFP battery, retuned suspension and upgraded brakes.

Dacia said the model offers a WLTP combined range of up to 140 miles and can recharge from 20% to 80% in as little as 29 minutes.

The Spring also offers a 308-litre boot, expanding to 1,004 litres with the rear seats folded, while Dacia’s YouClip accessory system is designed to improve cabin practicality.

‘Going electric simply makes sense’

Lina Ribeiro, brand director for Dacia UK, said: “Dacia has always worked hard to remove barriers to new car ownership, and with Spring’s new pricing, it takes our purpose further than ever.

“Production efficiencies and a strong drive to continue to offer real value to our customers have helped us pass on the savings and as such the most affordable new car on the market, electric or otherwise, is one of the smartest value choices on the road today. When the price is clear and the running costs are low, going electric simply makes sense.”
