Warranty Solutions Group (WSG) has partnered with iStoreDOCS, part of the MADdevs Connect Platform, to launch a digital GAP insurance solution aimed at helping retailers reintroduce the product in a compliant, low-effort and commercially effective way.
The partnership combines WSG’s expertise with iStoreDOCS’ digital deal file platform to create a more seamless customer journey through the sales and aftersales process.
It comes as rising vehicle costs and growing total loss values increase the relevance of GAP insurance for motorists, while many retailers have stepped back from offering it because of regulatory complexity, operational burden and weaker returns.
Many UK dealers had stopped offering GAP following the Financial Conduct Authority probe into the product. The FCA reviewed GAP in 2024 to make sure the product was representing fair value for customers. However, the industry regulator gave the greenlight for GAP sales to restart.
Digital GAP for dealers
Under the new model, customers are introduced to 30-day complimentary GAP cover through the iStoreDOCS customer portal, where they review, sign and upload key documents.
The businesses said this gives retailers a visible and familiar point in the customer journey to present the offer without disrupting the sales process.
Phil Miskelly, OEM & corporate sales director at Warranty Solutions Group, said: “Retailers have been asking for a simpler, fully compliant way to reintroduce GAP insurance, and this partnership delivers exactly that. By combining digital engagement with specialist support, we’re enabling dealers to offer meaningful protection to customers without adding pressure to their sales teams or introducing operational complexity.
“This is about more than just product distribution. It’s about reshaping how GAP is delivered in a modern retail environment. By integrating into an existing digital journey and supporting it with expert-led customer engagement, we’re creating a model that is scalable, compliant and commercially effective for today’s market.”
WSG said the partnership was shaped by demand from a market where more than 1,500 retailers already use iStoreDOCS, but where many had withdrawn from GAP sales because of FCA-related complexity and limited commercial return.
Daniel Rea, sales director, MADdevs, said: “This partnership is about removing friction for retailers while enhancing the customer journey. By embedding GAP insurance into a platform customers already trust and use, we’re creating a natural, compliant way to deliver real value without adding complexity for the dealer.
“From a dealer perspective, the proposition is simple: no risk, all reward. There is no compliance burden, as WSG handles all regulatory requirements. There is no admin or setup, with the integration fully managed end-to-end. Dealers benefit from an incremental revenue opportunity driven by WSG’s specialist team, while also enhancing the customer experience by offering valuable protection without pressure.”
Omnichannel revenue model
Retailers also gain support from WSG’s call centre team, which manages customer engagement and conversion, allowing dealerships to generate revenue without adding to showroom workload. While early rollout data is still being gathered, WSG said initial signs are encouraging, pointing to engagement levels exceeding 80%.
The businesses said dealers could expect incremental revenue through stronger conversion and customer uptake supported by a structured omnichannel follow-up model once the initial 30-day free period ends.
Miskelly said: “The value of GAP insurance has never been clearer. UK GAP claim values reached record highs in 2025, with average payouts increasing by up to 37%. Typical claims now exceed £7,500 with high-value claims nearing £28,000. Around 66% of claims are due to accidents, with a further 27% linked to theft, particularly involving high-spec vehicles.
“With rising vehicle prices and increasing total loss costs, GAP insurance is becoming an essential protection product rather than an optional extra.”
