Vertu Motors is recruiting a director of retail marketing to lead campaigns across its UK car dealerships, van, motorcycle and Motability businesses.
The Gateshead-based role will report to chief marketing officer Liz Cope and oversee marketing intended to generate new vehicle enquiries, support sales and improve the return on advertising spend.
Vertu’s job listing said the successful candidate will work with Vertu’s operational directors, franchise teams and manufacturer partners on campaign planning, vehicle launches and customer retention.
The remit also covers advertising strategy, media budgets and compliance with manufacturers’ marketing requirements.
Vertu wants the director to assess marketing against measures including the number and quality of sales opportunities, cost per sale and return on investment.
The job includes leading retail marketing managers and the advertising and media team.
The dealer group is seeking applicants with director-level experience in retail, category or media marketing, ideally within a complex business involving multiple brands or franchises.
The job listing describes the salary package as “dependent on experience”.

“As the senior marketing partner to operational directors, franchise partners and manufacturer networks, you’ll lead the strategy, investment and delivery of marketing activity that directly influences commercial performance.
“From national campaigns and vehicle launches to media investment and customer retention, you’ll ensure marketing delivers measurable results while maintaining brand and OEM compliance.”
Responsibilities include overseeing major group-wide new vehicle events and identify opportunities to improve customer retention, and leading marketing planning, campaign delivery and product launches across multiple manufacturer brands, while ensuring campaigns remain compliant while supporting commercially ambitious activity that drives sales growth.
