Views of used electric car listings on AA Cars rose 49.6% year-on-year in September as competitively priced models attracted growing interest from shoppers.
Used EV page views were also 37% higher than in August, according to the latest AA Cars Used Car Index.
The Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model 3 and Renault Zoe remained the platform’s three most searched-for electric cars during the third quarter, with their combined page views increasing by 18% year-on-year.
The Leaf and Zoe both recorded average advertised prices below £10,000, at £8,693 and £8,255 respectively.
Younger stock attracts shoppers
The 10 most searched-for used EVs averaged four years old during the quarter, compared with 7.7 years for the leading petrol and diesel models.
However, the comparison is between two different groups of popular models rather than directly equivalent vehicles matched by segment, specification and age.
The average advertised price across the 10 leading EVs was £18,633, broadly unchanged year-on-year but 2.7% above the £18,150 recorded in the second quarter.
Five of the 10 models were cheaper than a year earlier. The Jaguar I-Pace recorded the largest decline, falling 11.4% to £18,378, while the Skoda Enyaq posted the strongest increase, rising 10.6% to £22,548.
The Leaf remained the most searched-for used EV and was 0.4% cheaper than a year earlier. The Model 3 increased by 5% to £19,295 while the Zoe rose by 3.2%.
Prices show signs of stabilising
James Hosking, managing director of AA Cars, said: “Cost has traditionally been one of the biggest barriers to EV ownership, but the used market has evolved significantly. With a growing range of models available at different price points, buyers can increasingly compare electric cars with their petrol and diesel equivalents on age, condition and overall value, rather than assuming that going electric means paying a premium.
“Average advertised prices across the most searched-for used EVs have remained relatively stable over the past year. While it’s too early to call this a long-term trend, it suggests that the sharp price corrections seen in recent years may be easing. Greater price stability is an encouraging sign for the market, giving buyers more confidence in the value of their purchase and sellers a clearer indication of what their vehicle is worth.
The Q3 index covers searches and average advertised prices on AA Cars from June 17 to September 21, 2026. Listing views measure shopper activity and should not be interpreted as completed transactions.
Separate SMMT data showed that 110,761 used battery electric cars changed hands in the second quarter, a 67% year-on-year increase which lifted their share of used-car transactions from 3.3% to 5.5%.
