Sizewell C’s new facilities management contract will create up to 400 jobs after a 10-year agreement was been signed with G4S.
The programme is currently in the mobilisation phase and will begin later this year with an initial team of around 150 employees.
Under the contract, the company will provide services to support day-to-day operations including maintenance, cleaning helpdesk services and postal services.
Energy Minister Michael Shanks said: “Reviving nuclear power is about more than delivering secure, homegrown energy, it’s creating good jobs and long-term opportunities so that young people can build their future in the communities they call home.
“For generations, nuclear power has supported jobs and growth in Suffolk. Sizewell C is bringing opportunities for the next generation across East Anglia and driving economic growth for decades to come.”
The project has committed to creating jobs and opportunities across East Anglia as it has invested £1 billion into Suffolk alone.
Sizewell C’s second Annual Sustainability Report revealed that overall the project has already invested nearly £5 billion with more than 1000 UK suppliers and at peak construction around 2600 employees will come from East Anglia.
The project is also expected to create 1500 apprenticeships, which includes 540 opportunities for people in Suffolk.
