Almost £10 million is being invested in the regeneration of Egremont in West Cumbria, with funding set to support new community facilities, local businesses and visitor attractions.
Egremont Town Team and Cumberland Council had previously secured £3 million through the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Fund.
Additional funding from Sellafield Ltd, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, the Decommissioning and Nuclear Waste Partnership and Copeland Community Fund has increased the total investment to £9.8 million.
Plans include redeveloping land with more than 1,600 square metres of public space, a wellbeing centre, business workshops and retail units.
The Florence Arts Centre will also receive improvements, including a new performance space and café, artists’ studios and more than 2,800 square metres of outdoor space.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2027 and take 12 to 18 months.
