Dealer group Barretts of Canterbury is said to have reduced vehicle movement time and cost having adopted Jigcar’s centralised automated vehicle movement service.
The platform is said to have delivered a vehicle movement per shift improvement from 5.5 to 7.7 in Q1 of this year, with a 21% cost reduction for each movement.
The dealer group, which operates 10 sites across Kent, is said to have achieved average movement times of 0.6 days per vehicle, significantly outperforming the industry norm of three days.

Jigcar’s platform has digitised the planning, optimisation and management of the group’s retail, fleet and recovery operations as well as its bespoke JLR collection and delivery services.
Barry O’Donoghue, franchise director at Barretts of Canterbury, said: “The Jigcar platform has enabled us to drive down costs per movement across the group and achieve further savings by using internal trade plate drivers for all our vehicle movements.
“By adopting a centralised management model, we can now see exactly what every movement costs, where inefficiencies are and how to plan better.
“This data enables us to make informed decisions about team structure, driver numbers and when cars should move.
“With the March plate-change driving a spike in vehicle movements, the platform delivered improved efficiencies and significant bottom line savings.”
Elliott Perks, CEO and co-founder at Jigcar, said: “Barretts of Canterbury is a great example of what happens when a dealer group takes control of its transport needs and has full centralised cost visibility.
“By utilising internal drivers the business is now achieving same-day movement times and has a foundation to use the platform to further optimise its transportation needs.”
