A new renewable energy project is coming to Cornwall after receiving £58.1 million in construction financing.
Danse Banke, a Danish corporate bank company have provided money which will fund a 68MW solar park and a 47.5 MW/95 MWh battery storage system in South West England.
The construction, by renewable energy project developer European Energy, is now underway and commercial operations are expected to begin as early as 2027.
Jens Peter Zink, Deputy CEO at European Energy, said: “Hybrid projects are becoming an increasingly important part of the renewable energy market.
“By integrating battery storage with solar generation, we are creating more resilient and flexible energy assets while strengthening their long-term investment profile.”
The solar and battery storage facilities will share a single grid connection and combining generation and storage using this method could allow for more efficient use of the grid.
The project is being built as the UK work towards its target of being net zero by 2050 and Cornwall Councils commitment to making the area carbon-neutral by 2030.
