AkzoNobel, who make the famous Dulux paints, have transitioned to using 100% renewable energy across Europe and the Americas.
The company now have 92 locations that solely operate on renewable energy and have also halved carbon emissions, achieving its 2030 target four years early.
Jeff Hope, Manufacturing Director at AkzoNobel said: “The progress made across our UK sites demonstrates how local teams can make a meaningful contribution to global ambitions through practical engineering improvements, operational collaboration and a culture of continuous improvement.”
The Deeside site in the UK has been at the forefront of the transition since implementing an energy reduction programme in 2022. Initiatives in the scheme included a site-wide LED lighting rollout which covered 92% of the facility and reduced lighting-related energy use by 68%.
The programme caused overall electricity use to fall by more than 25% since 2021, while gas consumption has almost halved.
