Nissan has launched a service-activated warranty giving eligible electric cars cover for up to six years or 100,000 miles.
The programme links the extension of warranty cover to routine servicing at a Nissan dealership or authorised repairer.
It applies to the new Nissan Micra, including vehicles sold since launch, the new Leaf and 2026 model year Ariya.
Future electric passenger cars introduced by Nissan will also be eligible.
New and used examples of the qualifying models can receive cover until they are six years old or have travelled 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
The initiative, which began on July 1, is designed to strengthen Nissan dealer aftersales retention as the manufacturer expands its electric car range.
The move comes at a time when the independent sector is becoming increasingly confident with stocking and servicing EVs, increasing competition within the broader sector for EV aftersales work.
Annual dealer servicing activates additional cover
Qualifying vehicles will initially retain Nissan’s standard manufacturer warranty of three years or 60,000 miles.
Once that warranty expires, an eligible service completed within Nissan’s dealer and authorised repairer network will activate a further 12 months of cover.
Owners can repeat the process annually until the vehicle reaches six years old or 100,000 miles.
To maintain continuous cover, customers must follow Nissan’s recommended service schedule and have the service immediately before the manufacturer warranty expires completed within the Nissan network.
Subsequent scheduled servicing must also take place at a Nissan dealership or authorised repairer before the existing period of cover ends.
Keeping your Nissan EV within the network should be a “no brainer”
Nicolas Belaud, Nissan GB aftersales director, said: ‘‘Nissan has more than 15 years of experience looking after EVs in the UK, more than any other manufacturer, and the service activated warranty highlights our confidence in our electric vehicles and offers even more customer benefit in bringing a car to the experts for servicing.
“For a Nissan owner, taking their car to a Nissan dealership for routine servicing is a no-brainer.
“With state-of-the art facilities, access to genuine manufacturer parts and fully qualified Nissan technicians, owners can rest assured that their cars are in the best possible hands with us.”
An eligible vehicle that has previously been serviced outside the Nissan network can still enter the programme if it has a complete service history.
The owner must take the vehicle to a Nissan dealership or authorised repairer for its next service. Cars without a full service history may require an additional inspection before warranty cover can be activated.
This gives Nissan dealers an opportunity to bring electric cars that have moved into the independent servicing sector back into their workshops.
Nissan’s separate lithium-ion battery warranty remains in place for up to eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Used examples of the new Micra, new Leaf and 2026 model year Ariya will also qualify under similar servicing conditions.
Each scheduled service must be completed within the Nissan network before the existing warranty expires to activate the next 12 months of protection.
