Sizewell C and Ipswich Town Foundation have launched a new three-year partnership aimed at creating education, wellbeing and personal development opportunities for hundreds of young people and adults across Leiston and Ipswich.

As the Foundation’s official outreach partner, Sizewell C will support the expansion of several community programmes, including the Premier League Primary Stars and Premier League Inspires initiatives. The partnership will bring these programmes to schools in Leiston while extending their reach across Ipswich.

The agreement will also fund five free-to-access Soccer Schools each year in Leiston and introduce Turn up and Play football sessions for adults experiencing mental health challenges in both Leiston and Ipswich.

In addition, the Foundation will deliver health and wellbeing sessions for the Sizewell C workforce and expand its DIVERT outreach programme to another primary school in Ipswich.

A key feature of the partnership will see at least two Ipswich Town first-team players visit Leiston annually to take part in community activities and inspire local young people.

Nigel Cann, CEO of Sizewell C, said: “Football is such a powerful way of reaching people and delivering life-changing opportunities. The Ipswich Town Foundation has been doing an incredible job improving lives and aspirations in this county for several years – and I’m delighted that we can support them to do even more.”

Ipswich Town Foundation currently reaches more than 9,000 young people and vulnerable adults each week through 29 programmes across Suffolk and neighbouring areas.

Dan Palfrey, Director of Ipswich Town Foundation, said: “Their investment in, and belief in our work will have a hugely positive impact on young people and adults in Leiston and Ipswich over the next three years.”

The partnership builds on wider investment by Sizewell C in local sport, including a new FIFA-approved 3G pitch and multi-use games area at Alde Valley Academy in Leiston.
