The UK’s public electric vehicle charging network has passed 120,000 chargers, according to new data from Zapmap, the country’s leading charge point mapping service.

A total of 1,308 net new chargers were added in April alone, bringing the network to 120,388 across on-street, destination and en-route locations.

This represents an 11% increase compared to April 2025, when 108,819 chargers were recorded.

The 120,000th charger, operated by RAW Charging, was installed at Lydford Gorge in Devon, a National Trust-managed site.

The number of charging hubs, defined as eight or more rapid or ultra-rapid chargers in one location, has also surpassed 1,000 for the first time.

Ultra-rapid chargers, delivering 150kW and above, continue to show the strongest growth at 40% year-on-year, with 13,346 now in operation.

Melanie Shufflebotham, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at Zapmap, said: “The availability of 120,000 public chargers is not just a significant milestone for the UK EV market but also a great result for EV drivers.”

Vicky Read, Chief Executive of ChargeUK, said: “Two million EVs and 120,000 chargers. The electric transition is well down the road and as petrol prices remain high it’s time for government to hit the accelerator.”
