Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has revealed first official images of the new Caddy, previewing an updated version of its long-running compact van and leisure vehicle ahead of pre-sales starting mid-year.

The revised fifth-generation Caddy gets a new-look front end, fresh exterior paint colours and redesigned alloy wheels, as Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles looks to build on the model’s popularity with tradespeople, families and lifestyle users.

Update revealed

The manufacturer said the Caddy was its most successful individual model in 2025 with more than 110,000 deliveries, while more than 500,000 examples of the current fifth-generation high-roof version have been built since launch.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said almost 2.9 million Caddy vans have been produced at its Poznań plant in Poland since 2003, with the model continuing to serve both commercial and passenger car buyers across a wide range of variants.

The latest update includes a modified front apron, new bumper styling and wheel designs ranging from 16-inch to 18-inch rims. The line-up will continue to span cargo and passenger versions, standard and Maxi wheelbases and trims including Edition, California, Life and Style, alongside the flexible Caddy Flexible and specialist conversions.

Powertrain options will include petrol, diesel and eHybrid. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said the plug-in hybrid version offers a total range of more than 620km, including up to 122km of electric-only driving.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said a key part of the range is the Caddy Flexible, which can switch from a five-seat passenger vehicle to a two-seat van with partition wall in a few simple steps.

Van and family appeal

The manufacturer is also positioning the Caddy as a vehicle for leisure buyers, highlighting features such as flexible seating, large load capacity and the ability to carry bikes, surfboards, pets or camping equipment. The Caddy California is also available with a bed and an optional mini kitchen for overnight stays.

In passenger car form, the Caddy offers five to seven seats even on the standard wheelbase, while the Caddy Cargo Maxi provides more than 3,100 litres of load space. Depending on model, towing capacity reaches up to 1,500kg.

The brand said the Caddy also remains an important mobility solution for disabled drivers and passengers thanks to the wide range of conversion options available on the high-roof van.

Further details on the cabin and specifications will be released when pre-sales begin in the middle of the year.
