Car finance fintech Zuto has appointed Aimee Gethin as its new chief executive officer succeeding founder Jim Wilkinson.
Gethin, who joined the business in 2015 and has served as chief operating officer since 2020, steps into the role as part of a long-planned succession strategy.
Leadership transition at Zuto
Wilkinson will remain with the business in his founder role and act as an ambassador, with the leadership transition developed over several years.
Zuto said Gethin has played a central role in shaping the company’s transformation and growth helping expand its partnerships and data-led approach to car finance.
“It’s an honour to lead Zuto at such an exciting point in its 20-year history,” said Gethin. “Since I joined the business 11 years ago, I’ve worked closely alongside Jim to build strong foundations that are already enabling us to scale at pace. Our established network of lenders, partners and dealerships, combined with the proprietary data and insight we provide, gives us a platform for sustainable growth.”
Backed by investment from Bridgepoint’s small cap growth fund, secured in October 2025, the business is targeting further expansion as it strengthens its position in the car finance market.
“Our recent partnership with Bridgepoint builds on that momentum and creates a clear opportunity to strengthen our leadership position in the market – not just in terms of scale, but in championing trust and transparency. By working closely with our partners to deliver a consistently excellent customer journey, we have an opportunity to help shape the future of our industry,” added Gethin.
Growth strategy and finance scale
The business uses data and technology to support lenders and dealers including helping partners digitise finance offerings and broaden customer choice. Zuto finances one in 16 used cars in the UK and is on track to exceed £100m in revenue in 2026.
“Aimee has been instrumental in Zuto’s growth,” said Wilkinson. “She has a clear and ambitious vision for the company, is deeply committed to our customers, partners and team, and is an outstanding leader. I’m very proud of what we’ve built at Zuto and I’m even more excited about what the business can achieve next, with Aimee at the helm.”
JJ Bowles, Zuto board member and director at Bridgepoint, said: “Jim has built an exceptional fintech business, founded on a genuine commitment to putting customers first. We are excited to work alongside Aimee as we enter this new chapter and share her vision to accelerate Zuto’s growth. Through unrivalled sector expertise, innovative technology and a responsible approach, Aimee and her team are transforming the world of car finance.”
Zuto has supported more than 450,000 customers in securing vehicle finance and offers over 300 products through its panel of lenders. The company is also investing in AI and data-driven integrations to connect dealers, lenders and customers more effectively.
