A £1 million funding pot has been awarded to support innovative technologies aimed at strengthening the UK’s offshore wind supply chain.

The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) is backing projects focused on industrial foundations and substructures, as well as substations and electrical design – two areas identified in the UK’s Industrial Growth Plan as key to future growth.

The successful projects were selected for their potential to address key challenges by accelerating solutions that will strengthen UK capability in offshore wind. The funding will help to fast-track these companies’ solutions to market.

Through funding, The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership OWGP says that it aims to help accelerate innovative solutions with the potential to unlock future global market opportunities and position the UK as a world leader in offshore wind.

The UK has a unique opportunity to use existing expertise to build on its offshore capabilities – this is identified in the Industrial Growth Plan as a potential £209 billion global market opportunity.

The successful companies will now begin the next phase of their projects, working with OWGP to progress their technologies, generate evidence of performance and prepare them for future commercial opportunities.
