Up to 180 new jobs are being created at Maraen Port of Nigg, near Inverness, to support construction of the 3.6GW Dogger Bank offshore wind farm.
The roles include project managers, port operators and mechanical and electrical technicians.
Maraen Port of Nigg was selected as the marshalling harbour in May, with turbine components being pre-assembled there before being transported offshore.
The wind farm is being developed by SSE in partnership with energy companies Equinor and Vårgrønn and will comprise of 277 turbines across three 1.2GW phases.
An economic impact report says Dogger Bank is expected to contribute £6.1bn to the UK economy over its lifetime while supporting thousands of skilled jobs.
Once operational, the wind farm could provide around 6% of the UK’s current electricity demand.
Recruitment for the port programme has already begun, with the positions expected to support project activity through to the wind farm’s planned completion in mid-2028.
