Operations at some energy facilities in Saudi Arabia were halted on Tuesday following attacks by Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis group, according to Reuters.
The attacks in Saudi Arabia, which is the world’s leading oil exporter, wounded 73 people and were described as a dangerous escalation by authorities.
Fire erupted at the sites, injury several people as emergency services rushed to control the blaze.
The flare-up between Saudi Arabia and the militant group comes as tensions mount between the US and Iran, which skyrocketed oil prices.
On Monday, it was reported that Aramco’s Jazan oil facilities were hit in new strikes and the damage was being assessed, howeverowever, Aramco has not commented to verify this.
The Houthis, who control the most populous parts of Yemen and much of the north, have been launching attacks towards Saudi Arabia since declaring a naval blockade against Riyadh in July, with strikes targeting its vessels in the Red Sea.
The recent attacks raise questions over the affect on the price and availability of oil worldwide.
