Motors will rebrand its advertising business as Cazoo on May 27, with its legacy website set to close by the end of 2026.

The move forms part of a strategy to consolidate activity onto a single marketplace, with a phased migration already underway to maintain traffic levels and protect dealer lead volumes.

Motors said dealer partners will see no change to how they list or manage vehicles during the transition.

The business acquired the Cazoo brand in 2024 after the former online retailer entered administration, relaunching it as a used car marketplace.

The brand is now positioned as a high awareness destination for in-market buyers, supported by previous investment in consumer marketing and sponsorship.

Challenging the market leader

Barry Judge, chief executive of Cazoo and Motors, said the decision followed “detailed analysis of performance and growth potential”.

He said: “Cazoo is already the second best known used car marketplace in the UK, with 60% consumer awareness.

“Our mission is to disrupt the market and provide dealers and car buyers with a credible alternative to the market leader.”

He said the group will now focus all activity behind the Cazoo brand: “We will consolidate our efforts entirely behind Cazoo and transition our investment and traffic from Motors into the Cazoo marketplace.”

Judge said that concentrating resources on one platform would accelerate development and improve outcomes for retailers: “By focusing our efforts in one place, we will move even faster, innovate more effectively and deliver stronger outcomes for dealers and car buyers, with higher-quality demand and improved lead volumes.

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly. It is one that has been informed by extensive testing, learning and analysis.

“Cazoo is the only credible challenger to the market leader, with all our resources supporting its growth towards becoming an outstanding alternative marketplace for dealers and buyers.”
