JLR has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging network to more than one million European charging points ahead of the first electric Range Rover launch.

The new JLR Charging service is available to drivers of Jaguar and Land Rover electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, providing access to more than 1.17 million charging points across Europe, including 75,000 in the UK.

The launch marks a significant step in JLR’s preparations for a new generation of electric models, beginning with the Range Rover Electric later this year, followed by electric Jaguar models from 2027 and further battery electric Land Rover vehicles.

The charging platform replaces the previous Jaguar Charging and Land Rover Charging services, which were operated by Plugsurfing.

Instead, JLR has partnered with Digital Charging Solutions (DCS), whose charging platform also supports services for BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo.

Charging access supports luxury EV ownership

Mark Camilleri, director of charging and connected services at JLR, said: “Quality, choice and convenience are critical to the luxury experience we are creating for our electric vehicle clients.

“Through this new partnership, we are giving clients the power to seamlessly access one of Europe’s most comprehensive charging networks.”

The service is integrated into JLR’s InControl smartphone app and vehicle navigation systems, allowing drivers to locate compatible charging points, navigate directly to them and pay through a single account.

Customers can also use a branded charging card for access across the network.

JLR said buyers of new and Approved Used electric and plug-in hybrid Jaguar and Land Rover models will receive a complimentary charging card.

Existing customers can order one through the app or their dealership.

The charging service is free to join, while a £8.99 monthly subscription offers a 20% discount on charging tariffs.
