Jigcar has secured Hilton Coachworks as its first accident repair customer as the vehicle logistics tech provider expands beyond its established dealer group client base.
The manufacturer-approved bodyshop, based near Stansted, collects and returns vehicles for more than 50 franchised dealerships across the East of England.
Hilton Coachworks has introduced Jigcar’s transport management system across its repair vehicle collection and delivery operation, replacing planning previously carried out using diaries and spreadsheets.
Reducing empty transporter journeys
The platform consolidates each day’s collection and delivery requests before producing driver routes intended to reduce mileage and the number of empty transporter journeys.
Dealership coordinators also receive automated daily notifications showing which vehicles are scheduled to arrive or leave.
Jigcar said the system gives Hilton Coachworks greater visibility of how its drivers and transporters are being deployed, helping the business identify opportunities to increase the utilisation of its existing fleet.
Elliott Perks, chief executive and co-founder of Jigcar, said: “We’re excited to welcome Hilton Coachworks as our first accident repair client. This marks a step towards our strategic growth in the sector.
“Bodyshops carry the same transport cost as dealer groups, with less margin to absorb it; so every collection and delivery is a vehicle off the road and a customer waiting.
“Jigcar’s TMS brings every request into one digitised plan, so the Hilton team can group journeys, make fuller use of its own drivers and transporters, and keep dealers informed without picking up the phone.”
Replacing manual planning
Paul Underdown, managing director of Hilton Coachworks, said: “Before Jigcar, each of our account managers booked collections and deliveries on their own, and planning the day meant pulling it together from a diary and spreadsheets.
“We now have more efficient workflows. Every request goes into one plan; our dealer partners know what’s arriving and when and we can see where our trucks are going without chasing anyone.
“The planning data has been eye-opening. It’s shown us where we can get more out of our existing transporters, and we’re now looking at modifications to the fleet so we can handle more of our work as efficiently as possible as we grow.”
