E.ON has completed its acquisition of OVO after the Competition and Markets Authority approved the takeover.
It’s estimated that this merger will create a supplier with almost 10 million customers.
The company has confirmed there will be no immediate change for those customers, as all tariffs and customer service channels will remain unchanged.
E.ON has reassured customers that they will receive notice of any changes far in advance of any action being taken.
Chris Norbury, CEO of E.ON UK, said: “We are pleased to have completed this acquisition but our first priority is unchanged: looking after our customers, in both E.ON Next and in OVO.
“In a fiercely competitive market, flexibility and scale are what allow us to deliver for customers now and to transform for the energy system to come. Our job is to make new energy work – for everyone.”
The merger will leave Octopus Energy, British Gas and E.ON with 74% of the domestic energy market.
