Chinese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) Chery and BYD are targeting the UK light commercial vehicle (LCV) sector, using the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026 as a launchpad for new van propositions.
Chery Commercial Vehicle (CCV), part of Chery Holding Group, will make its European debut at the Birmingham event, where it will also host the global launch of its new CV brand, Delivan. The unveiling marks the first step in CCV’s European expansion, with a full product launch planned for 2027.
IM Group has also recently confirmed it will bring Chinese commercial vehicle brand Foton to the UK as well.
Delivan will be introduced alongside a series of concept vehicles designed to preview the brand’s future product, technology and design direction.
The business is positioning the brand around intelligent and electrified commercial mobility, targeting evolving operator requirements.
Jolly Yang, vice president of Chery Commercial Vehicle and chief executive of Delivan, said: “Europe represents one of the most advanced and demanding commercial vehicle environments in the world, and it is exactly where we want to demonstrate the strength of our vision, our technology and our long-term commitment.
“The launch of Delivan signals the beginning of a new chapter for our business – one that is focused on delivering intelligent, efficient and future-ready mobility solutions tailored to the evolving needs of operators.
“As the urgency to address climate change grows, reinforcing the shift towards electrification and smarter logistics and driving demand for more efficient, connected commercial vehicles, we see an opportunity to define a new model for intelligent commercial mobility, built on advanced technology.
“Our presence in Birmingham is not just about showcasing concepts, but about starting meaningful conversations with partners, customers and media as we build towards our European introduction in 2026 and beyond.”
Alongside Chery’s European debut, BYD will enter the UK LCV market with the DOLPHIN Cargo e-Van, also revealed at the CV Show.
The model is a van conversion of its Dolphin electric hatchback, offering more than 1,000 litres of load space and a city WLTP range of up to 347 miles, with a combined WLTP range of 265 miles.
The vehicle has been adapted for commercial use with the removal of rear seats, replaced by a bulkhead and re-engineered rear floor.
BYD’s move into vans builds on its recent growth in the UK passenger car market, where it recorded 21,337 registrations in Q1 2026, equating to a 3.98% market share.
Full pricing and specification details for the Dolphin Cargo e-Van will be announced closer to launch.
