The BVRLA is bringing back its Used EV Week campaign in September as it looks to convert recent growth in used electric car sales into sustained consumer demand.
Representing 1,000 companies engaged in vehicle rental, leasing and fleet management, BVRLA members represent the demand-side of the automotive industry, buying around 50% of new vehicles, including over 85% of the EVs manufactured and sold in the UK
Used EV Week will run from Monday 21 September to Sunday 27 September, bringing together businesses from across the sector under the shared #UsedEVweek banner.
The campaign will promote the choice, value, quality and reliability of used electric cars, alongside the different ways in which consumers can source and finance them.
It follows the first Used EV Week in October 2025, which featured the publication of market data, consumer information and positive stories about second-hand EVs.
This year’s campaign comes as the used car market returns to growth. The latest Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders figures show that used car transactions increased during the second quarter of 2026, with sales of battery electric vehicles continuing to rise.
Autotrader has also reported signs of greater stability in used EV values following the sustained depreciation previously experienced by parts of the market.
The BVRLA believes volatility in global fuel prices, linked to conflict in the Middle East, has contributed to stronger consumer interest in electric cars. However, it wants the industry to establish a more sustainable base for demand that can continue once petrol and diesel prices stabilise.
Adam Forshaw, head of communications at the BVRLA, said: “Without a strong used EV market, the transition cannot succeed. BVRLA members and their fleet customers have led the shift to electric, but we now need that momentum to carry into the second-hand market.
“Used EV Week is about showing more motorists the choice, value and quality already available. By getting the whole industry involved, we can build confidence and make that message much harder to miss.”
The health of the used market is particularly important to leasing companies, fleet operators and dealers because it supports vehicle residual values and provides an outlet for the increasing number of electric cars reaching the end of their first ownership cycle.
The BVRLA will publish new material and announcements during the week. Its members, retailers and other automotive businesses are being encouraged to contribute market data, customer case studies and consumer guidance.
