Automotive charity Ben is urging people working in car dealerships and the wider motor industry to support one another as new data highlights the impact of loneliness across the sector.
The charity said 31% of automotive workers have experienced loneliness, with many facing isolation alongside pressures such as long working hours, financial concerns and the demands of running businesses and managing teams.
The campaign coincides with Loneliness Awareness Week and encourages people across the industry to check in with colleagues, start conversations and seek support when needed.
Ben said its research reflects a wider UK trend, with millions of people experiencing loneliness but many never discussing it openly.

Automotive workers looking for stronger personal connections
The charity believes many automotive workers are looking for stronger personal connections beyond day-to-day professional interactions.
It said people want opportunities to connect with peers, share experiences, discuss challenges and build supportive networks within the automotive community.
Earlier this month, Ben brought its pop-up pub concept, The Benevolent, to the UK Garage & Bodyshop Show at Birmingham’s NEC.
The initiative was designed to give visitors a space to stop, talk and connect in an informal setting through activities including quizzes and games of darts.
Ben said the event highlighted concerns that opportunities for meaningful conversations are being lost in busy workshops, dealerships and aftersales environments.
Ellen Plumer, head of awareness and experience at Ben, said: “People told us, again and again, how much it meant to have somewhere to stop, talk honestly and feel part of something.
“That response is shaping our thinking.
“This Loneliness Awareness Week, we want to keep the conversation going, and we would love automotive people to get involved and hear more about our plans.”
Exploring new ways to connect and support
Ben is now exploring ways to create more opportunities, both online and in person, for people working in the automotive sector to connect and support one another.
Rachel Clift, chief executive officer at Ben, said loneliness is often linked to wider wellbeing concerns.
She said: “At Ben, we are here for the health and wellbeing of automotive people, for life.
“Loneliness is rarely just loneliness; it often sits alongside stress, money worries, low mood, problems sleeping or a relationship under strain.
“Whatever someone is facing, they do not have to face it alone, and reaching out early can make all the difference.
“Our free and confidential helpline, 08081 311 333, is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, and our specialist health and wellbeing services are here for anyone who works, or has worked, in automotive, and their family. If you are struggling, please reach out.”
