Audi will open UK order books for its new A2 e-tron in October, with prices starting at £32,200 and the first customer deliveries scheduled for early 2027.
The compact electric model will become the new entry point to Audi’s EV range, giving dealerships a more attainable electric proposition at a time when premium manufacturers are seeking to broaden their addressable market. It marks the return of the A2 nameplate for the first time since 2005 and is expected to replace the A1 and Q2 in Audi’s line-up.
Sitting on the same MEB+ platform that underpins the VW ID.3 and Cupra Born, four rear-wheel-drive powertrains will be offered, producing between 170PS and 326PS, alongside three battery sizes with gross capacities of 52kWh, 61kWh and 84kWh. Depending on the configuration, the A2 e-tron will offer WLTP ranges from 262 to 401 miles.
The longest-range 231PS model combines the 84kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 401 miles. The 326PS flagship uses the same battery but delivers up to 391 miles and accelerates from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds. Audi claims energy consumption as low as 12.8kWh per 100km makes the A2 e-tron its most efficient production model to date.
Maximum DC charging speeds range from 100kW for the 52kWh model to 183kW for the 84kWh versions. Audi quotes 10-80% charging times of between 24 and 29 minutes.
The 52kWh and 61kWh batteries use lithium iron phosphate cells, while the larger 84kWh unit has a nickel manganese cobalt chemistry.
Audi targets wider EV customer base
Audi chief executive Gernot Döllner said: “Our customers want electric mobility that impresses in everyday life. The A2 e-tron is our promise to deliver exactly that – efficient, compact, and thoughtfully designed down to the last detail. We’re making entry into the electric Audi world easier and more relevant than ever.”
The car has a drag coefficient of 0.24, supported by a largely enclosed underbody, controllable cooling intake, aerodynamic wheels and wheelarch features designed to reduce turbulence.
Despite its compact dimensions, the model has a 2.77-metre wheelbase and provides 396 litres of boot space, increasing to 1,336 litres with the rear seats folded. A 13-litre front storage compartment is fitted to the 231PS and 326PS versions.
Standard cabin technology includes an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus and a 12.8-inch curved MMI touchscreen. The infotainment package incorporates Audi’s AI-enabled voice assistant and the e-tron route planner.
Adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, swerve assistance, parking sensors and a reversing camera are among the standard driver assistance features.
Optional bidirectional charging enables the vehicle to power external devices through vehicle-to-load technology. Vehicle-to-home capability will also be available in selected markets with compatible charging equipment.
The A2 e-tron will be manufactured alongside the combustion-engined Audi A3 at Audi’s Ingolstadt factory. Full UK specifications and pricing for individual versions will be confirmed when ordering opens.
