Homeowners in Dorset are being invited to explore whether solar panels and battery storage could help generate their own renewable electricity supply.
The scheme, set up by Dorset Council in partnership with Switch Together, uses a group-buying approach to help people access competitively priced solar and battery installations from trusted, vetted installers.
It’s open to homeowners and businesses and is designed to provide information about the costs, benefits and suitability of the infrastructure.
Cllr Nick Ireland, Leader of Dorset Council, said: “Supporting residents to reduce carbon emissions and improve the energy efficiency of their homes is an important part of our work to respond to the climate and nature crisis while helping to build a more sustainable Dorset.
“Following registration, residents will receive information about the scheme and details of next steps. Homeowners can then decide whether they wish to accept any offer they receive. If homeowners accept their offer a refundable deposit will be required to continue to the next stage.”
Last year the programme supported more than 200 households explore renewable energy with no obligation to move forward with installation. The registration deadline for this years scheme is on the 25th of September.
