Jaguar has revealed the interior of its forthcoming Type 01 for the first time, ahead of the luxury GT’s full unveiling in New York on October 6.

In May, Jaguar confirmed that its first all-new model of the electric era would be the four-door electric GT and represented the first of a new generation of models as the car maker repositions itself as an ultra-luxury EV brand following the end of UK new car sales in 2024.
Jaguar said the Type 01 will offer up to 478 miles of WLTP range, while rapid charging capability will add up to 200 miles of range in 15 minutes. The model will use a 1000PS tri-motor powertrain and has been designed, developed and will be built in the UK.
Central spine defines new cabin
Jaguar said the interior was influenced by travertine stone and artisan textiles, with a brass-inspired finish used along the central spine and the tops of the doors.
The cabin introduces a central spine running the length of the car, dividing the interior into four individual spaces and carrying over one of the key ideas from Jaguar’s concept-car design language into production.
The spine runs from front to rear and is intended to emphasise the longitudinal shape of the car rather than the horizontal layouts more commonly used in modern interiors.
The Type 01 also gets a low-set driving position, a slim dashboard and a new infotainment system designed around what Jaguar calls “technology on demand”.
The dashboard incorporates what Jaguar describes as “strikethrough” design elements intended to visually connect the bonnet with the cabin.
A digital ClearSight rear-view display is positioned centrally at the base of the windscreen at approximately the same height as the exterior mirrors. Jaguar has also incorporated concealed storage and technology that remains hidden until required.
Thomas Holden, chief interior designer at Jaguar, said: “Our holistic design philosophy translates the vehicle’s exterior presence into a distinctive interior architecture. In contrast to the horizontal interior design norm, we emphasise its dramatic longitudinal nature through the central spine – an architectural statement that creates four individual spaces. With authentic materials, technology on demand and reductive flowing surfaces, Type 01 presents unmistakable drama and theatre that will define the modern luxury automotive interior of the future.”
Full reveal set for October
Rawdon Glover, managing director at Jaguar, said: “Jaguar Type 01 is the first production car to follow our new creative philosophy. Unmistakable from every angle, the interior is no different. With Type 01, we wanted every journey to be an occasion, from how it drives to how it looks and how it makes you feel. With a confidence-inspiring GT driving position, clean and sophisticated technology and dramatic styling, Type 01 has an interior like no other.”
A Type 01 prototype will make its North American debut during Monterey Car Week wearing a new camouflage wrap.
It will also appear at the Pebble Beach Concours on August 16 before Jaguar reveals the car in full in New York on October 6.
