Volkswagen is opening orders for the extensively revised ID.3 Neo on August 13, with prices starting from £33,080.
The updated electric hatchback gets an all-new interior and drive system, new battery options, revised software and a maximum claimed range of 390 miles. All versions are eligible for the Government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant.

Among the biggest changes is the introduction of one-pedal driving, allowing the car to recuperate energy under braking and come to a complete stop without the driver using the brake pedal in normal conditions.
ID.3 gains new technology
Volkswagen has also introduced its new Innovision infotainment system, designed to improve usability, device integration and access to downloadable apps and features.
The ID.3 Neo gets a 10.25-inch driver display and 12.9-inch infotainment screen, while physical buttons and rotary controls return as part of a substantial rethink of the cabin following customer feedback.
Gloss-black surfaces have been reduced and new materials introduced across the dashboard, doors and seats.
Travel Assist has also been upgraded, with an optional Connected Travel Assist system capable of detecting traffic lights and automatically bringing the car to a halt at red signals.
Customers can also specify a vehicle-to-load adapter that turns the charging socket into a 3.6kW power supply for external devices such as e-bikes.
Range rises to 390 miles
Volkswagen is introducing three new battery options with the ID.3 Neo, with the largest delivering a claimed range of up to 390 miles.
DC rapid-charging capability also increases, with Volkswagen claiming a 10% to 80% recharge can take as little as 26 minutes depending on specification.
The UK range comprises Life, Style and limited-run Style Launch Edition trims, priced from £33,080, £38,500 and £39,750 respectively.
Life includes adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, a reversing camera, satellite navigation and wireless smartphone connectivity.
Style adds equipment including heated front seats and steering wheel, keyless entry, matrix LED headlights and sports comfort seats.
The Style Launch Edition adds a head-up display, panoramic roof, electrically adjustable front seats with massage function, Travel Assist 3.0 and Park Assist Pro.
