BYD Group’s premium Denza brand has opened UK orders for the Z9 GT, the high-performance shooting brake that will spearhead its UK launch.
Priced from £105,000, a Super DM plug-in hybrid version will join the range later from £95,000.
Denza said both versions of the Z9 GT will offer a high level of standard equipment, advanced chassis technology and ultra-fast charging capability.
Premium UK launch
The Z9 GT EV uses a three-motor powertrain, with one motor at the front and two at the rear. It produces 1,156PS and 1,210Nm of torque, giving a 0-62mph time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 167mph. A 122kWh battery provides a claimed electric range of up to 373 miles.
The Super DM plug-in hybrid uses three electric motors with a 63.82kWh battery and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. It offers up to 126 miles of electric range and up to 500 miles on a full charge and full tank of petrol. The plug-in hybrid produces 776PS and 1,035Nm of torque, with a 0-62mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 161mph.
Flash charging debut
The Z9 GT will be the first BYD Group model to bring Flash Charging to the UK. With charging speeds of up to 1,500kW, the Z9 GT can recharge from 10-70% in five minutes and from 10-97% in nine minutes. The company said the latter is equivalent to adding 323 miles of WLTP range.
Denza said the Z9 GT can recharge from 20-97% in 12 minutes even at minus 30C. The same charging times also apply to the battery in the Super DM plug-in hybrid version.
The Z9 GT uses Denza’s e³ platform, with DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension and Vehicle Motion Control technology. DENZA said the system allows the suspension to communicate with the braking and steering systems, helping the vehicle maintain a straight course within a lane after a tyre blowout at speeds of up to 112mph.
A rear-axle steering system allows the rear wheels to turn in sync or independently of the front wheels and each other. This enables functions including crab walking at up to 8.5 degrees, a 360-degree compass turn and a turning radius of 5.35 metres.
The Z9 GT also offers parking assistance that can identify a space and reverse into it, either with the driver inside or remotely through a smartphone app.
Inside, all Z9 GTs come with Nappa leather upholstery, heated, ventilated and massaging front and outer second row seats, reclining rear backrests and extended rear leg rests. A 20-speaker Devialet sound system with Dolby Atmos is standard, delivering 1,150W output.
The cabin also includes a four-litre dual-mode refrigerator that can chill items between minus 6C and 6C or heat them between 35C and 50C.
Options include digital side mirrors at £1,600 and 21-inch alloy wheels at £2,500.
Three paint finishes, Obsidian Black, Sandstone Silver and Snow White, are standard. Emerald Green, Dolomite Slate and Midnight Blue cost £2,500, while Matte Copper and Matte Shadow Black cost £4,500.
