Leapmotor UK has opened order books for its B05 electric family hatchback, priced from £28,995 including the £1,500 Leap-Grant.

The C-segment EV is available to order now through Leapmotor’s 79-strong UK dealer network, with the new model due to arrive at dealerships by the end of July.

Leapmotor said the B05 continues its “value without compromise” positioning, combining a 300-mile WLTP range, 174kW rapid charging and a high standard specification in a single trim.

The new model is also being offered from £299 a month over four years on a personal contract purchase agreement, with a £999 deposit and 0% APR.

Cap HPI has calculated that the B05 will retain 47% of its value after 36 months and 30,000 miles and 40% after 36 months and 60,000 miles, which Leapmotor claims makes it the highest residual value model in the electric family hatchback market.

Dealer orders open

Damien Dally, managing director of Leapmotor UK, said: “We’re delighted to be opening orders for the B05 with such a strong offering. With our industry-first Leap-Grant, retail customers can enjoy truly desirable design and a dynamic driving experience without compromising on value.

“Arriving at our retailers at the end of this month and just after we officially exceeded 10,000 registrations since we launched in the UK a year ago, the stylish B05 offers further proof of our commitment to make the leap to electrification as easy and affordable for British car buyers.”

The B05 will be sold in one specified version. Standard equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, frameless doors, automatic air conditioning, automatic LED headlights and taillights and electrically operated heated and folding exterior mirrors.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard from launch, along with an air-cooled wireless charging pad, 14.6-inch 2.5K HD central floating touchscreen and 8.8-inch instrument cluster.

Safety equipment includes 21 driver assistance systems allowing Level 2 semi-autonomous driving. Key technologies include advanced emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot detection, door open warning for cyclists and adaptive cruise control.

The B05 uses Leapmotor’s Cell-to-Chassis architecture and is powered by a 67.1kWh battery, delivering up to 300 miles of WLTP range. DC charging at up to 174kW allows a 30% to 80% charge in 17 minutes.

A rear-mounted motor produces 218PS and drives the rear wheels, giving the B05 a 0-62mph time of 6.7 seconds.

Leapmotor said the B05 has been tuned for European roads with support from Stellantis’ global chassis experts. The hatchback uses MacPherson front suspension and an integrated rear multi-link arrangement which incorporates the rear motor to save weight. Leapmotor said the B05 has a 50:50 weight distribution.
