Kia has expanded its electric PV5 Cargo line-up with the introduction of a new compact L1/H1 model, while rolling out a series of 27-plate upgrades across the range and confirming updated pricing.

The new PV5 Cargo L1/H1 sits below the existing L2/H1 model and has been developed for businesses operating in congested city environments where vehicle size and manoeuvrability are critical.

Measuring 200mm shorter than the L2/H1, the new model offers 4.0 cubic metres of VDA cargo volume, 0.4 cubic metres less than its larger sibling, while retaining the same Essential and Plus trim structure.

Customers can choose between Kia’s 51.5kWh Standard Range battery and 71.2kWh Long Range battery. The larger battery delivers up to 243 miles of WLTP combined range, while the Standard Range version offers up to 177 miles.

Kia targets urban van fleets

Kia said the smaller dimensions also result in a slight payload advantage over the L2/H1, with maximum payload increasing by 10kg to 800kg in Essential Standard Range three-door form.

At launch, the PV5 Cargo L1/H1 will be offered exclusively with a two-seat configuration, although a three-seat version is expected to join the range in early 2027.

MY27 upgrades improve practicality

Kia has also announced a range of model year 2027 enhancements across the wider PV5 Cargo line-up.

All Cargo models will now receive driver lumbar support as standard, while two-seat versions gain a multi-position driver armrest. A new composite bulkhead has also been introduced to improve cabin refinement.

A no-cost two-seat or three-seat option joins the range, initially available on the Cargo L2/H1, while a redesigned slimline roof antenna reduces overall vehicle height to 1,899mm, helping drivers access more height-restricted car parks. Additional updates include the introduction of Walk Away Lock technology as standard.

Pricing for the PV5 Cargo now starts from £27,355 plus VAT for the L1/H1 Essential equipped with the Standard Range 51.5kWh battery. All versions of the PV5 Cargo also qualify for the Government’s Zero Emission Van Grant, reducing the on-the-road price by up to £5,000.
