Customer satisfaction with energy suppliers has climbed to its highest level in five years, suggesting service standards are recovering after the shock of the energy crisis.
A survey of 15,000 customers by Uswitch found overall satisfaction with suppliers has reached 77%, matching the level seen just before the 2021 energy crisis.
It marks the third year in a row that satisfaction has improved.
Nearly four in five customers, 79%, said they would recommend their energy provider, the highest score in six years.
That is a sharp recovery from 2023, when fewer than half of customers said they would recommend their supplier at the height of the crisis.
Uswitch said value for money has also improved, with 65% of households saying they are satisfied with what they get from their provider, up from 63% last year.
However, that remains below the 70% level recorded before the crisis.
Customer service satisfaction rose from 69% to 70% while satisfaction with billing increased from 75% to 76%.
Octopus Energy led the Uswitch Energy Awards among large suppliers, winning Overall Customer Satisfaction, Value for Money and Customer Service.
Outfox Energy was the highest-rated small supplier, winning Overall Customer Satisfaction and Value for Money, while Ecotricity took the Customer Service award for small suppliers.
So Energy received a special commendation for overall improvement after raising scores across all 10 surveyed categories.
