Kia has announced that its new EV2 has become its latest model to gain eligibility for the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant.
The model has qualified for the grant at the £1.500 Band 2 level, alongside the EV3, EV4, and PV5 Passenger.
The grant is applying to the First Edition version of the EV2, and is replacing the £1,500 ‘Kia EV2 Reservation Saving’ that Kia was previously offering with this spec.

A £3,750 ‘Kia EV2 Reservation Saving’ remains available with the EV2 Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S, with Kia saying news on grant eligibility for these versions of the model is expected later this year.
The EV2 First Edition is the only version of the small SUV to come with a 42.2kWh Standard Range battery, allowing a range of up to 190 miles on the official WLTP combined cycle, with a 10-80% charge possible within 29 minutes. The rest of the EV2 line-up gets a 61kWh Long Range battery with a range of up to 281 miles.
Standard equipment with First Edition spec includes 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and wireless smartphone charging.
The EV2 First Edition is priced at £28,495 OTR, meaning the cost is reduced to £26,995 once the grant is applied. The first deliveries are due later this year.
Kia EV2 test drive events scheduled
As previously announced, Kia is holding a nationwide series of ‘First Drive Weekend’ events for the EV2, intended to give customers an early opportunity to try out the model.
These events are running from April 16 to June 27 across almost all 190 Kia dealers, offering pre-booked one-hour sessions, including an expert walkaround and a half-hour accompanied test drive.
