Volvo Car UK has entered the light commercial vehicle market for the first time with the launch of the fully electric EX30 Cargo, targeting fleet and business customers seeking a premium compact van alternative.

The vehicle will be offered in two variants, the standard EX30 Cargo and the EX30 Cross Country Cargo, which adds increased ground clearance for more demanding operating environments.

Further practical enhancements include wider-opening rear doors, additional underfloor storage and mounting points, and a dedicated cargo work light to support daily commercial use.

Fleet focus drives new revenue

Volvo said the new model is designed to meet growing demand from fleets looking to electrify while maintaining high levels of safety and usability.

Jack Munford, head of fleet at Volvo Car UK, said: “While we are best known for our passenger vehicles, we recognise that business owners and fleets also want the quality, safety and technology that Volvo is renowned for in a compact commercial vehicle too, which is why we created the extremely practical EX30 Cargo.”

The EX30 Cargo will be available with multiple powertrain options, including a new MY27 P3 extended range variant offering up to 300 miles of range, alongside higher-output P5 and P8 configurations.

Standard specification includes Volvo’s Safe Space technology, Google Automotive Services and advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control and park assist.

Higher trim levels add features including Pilot Assist, a Harman Kardon sound system and enhanced comfort equipment, positioning the model at the premium end of the compact van segment.
