Vodafone has launched a landmark three-year partnership with the UK’s National Parks to boost nature restoration and climate resilience through advanced technology.

The collaboration aims to harness the power of AI, mobile data and IoT to map habitats, monitor biodiversity and analyse visitor impacts across all 15 National Parks.

The partnership reflects growing public demand for corporate action on the environment.

Research commissioned by Vodafone found that 78% of people believe businesses should play a role in nature protection, with 47% supporting tech-enabled solutions.

Vodafone’s innovative use of AI-powered habitat mapping will allow park authorities to gain detailed insights in a fraction of the time previously required.

The programme will also improve public engagement with nature, particularly among younger generations.

Despite 82% of people wanting to spend more time outdoors, only 8% do so daily.

Catherine Mealing-Jones, CEO of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, added: “That’s why partnerships with organisations like Vodafone are critical to help remove barriers and provide new tools and ideas that open up our National Parks to everyone – whilst protecting them for future generations.”
