Used electric vehicle (EV) sales reached a new UK monthly record in February, with 22,381 units sold, according to Marketcheck data.

The figure surpasses the previous record of 22,200 set in August 2025 and continues a sustained growth trend in used EV demand.

Sales have more than doubled in two years, rising from 10,343 units in February 2024 to over 22,000 in February 2026.

Marketcheck data shows the pace of growth has accelerated steadily.

Monthly used EV sales averaged between 7,000 and 8,000 units in late 2023, increased to around 13,000 to 15,000 through 2024, and have consistently exceeded 20,000 per month since mid 2025.

The growth reflects a larger pool of vehicles entering the used market, alongside improving affordability and stronger consumer demand.

Alastair Campbell, Marketcheck UK, said: “February 2026 marks another major milestone for the UK’s used EV market, with the highest number of vehicles ever sold in a single month.

“What we’re seeing now is the second-hand EV market becoming firmly established. As more electric vehicles enter the used car pool and prices continue to become more competitive, demand from buyers is clearly accelerating.

“The effect on pump prices is not reflected in these figures, so next month’s analysis will be very interesting to see if increasing petrol & diesel costs create higher demand as the war in Iran continues to create uncertainty.”
