By winning this tender, we’ve made significant progress in supplying the energy sector, after having competed with other major players to supply the auction system for Day-Ahead Auction for System Services (DASSA) with accompanying functionalities under the Future Arrangements for System Services (FASS) programme. With this win, Unicorn Systems has become a strategic partner to EirGrid, the Irish Transmission System Operator, where FASS will be the fifth Damas-based implementation delivered to EirGrid. At the same time, this achievement confirms our leadership position in energy and innovative IT solutions.
FASS will be built on the Damas MMS:E platform, a robust and scalable platform designed to meet the needs of TSOs and market operators. Damas MMS:E supports market processes in system services, transmission services, and clearing services. The platform was developed using the Unicorn Universe Digital-Twin Construction Kit (uuDck) for information systems using the Unicorn Mobile-First IoT-ready Cloud AI-Boosted Architecture.
The FASS system will be designed to meet EirGrid’s specific requirements to optimise its system service auctions. Key specifications include flexibility and scalability to allow the system to adapt to changing market needs and growth in the volume of traded services. FASS must be fully integrated with EirGrid’s other systems to ensure the seamless flow of data and information. The system must also meet the highest standards of security and reliability to ensure uninterrupted operation and sensitive data protection.
The project is set to be delivered over the next two years, with the anticipated Go-Live scheduled for the turn of 2026/2027. It will be managed by a dedicated Project Manager who will lead expert teams across multiple Unicorn locations, ensuring seamless collaboration across the various units. Following the successful system delivery, the solution will be supported with the full activation of our Service Desk and the provision of our comprehensive Second Line Support, ensuring long-term stability and customer satisfaction.
