Fuel prices in the UK are declining more rapidly than at any time this year, with unleaded petrol and diesel both nearly 7p cheaper than a month ago, according to RAC Fuel Watch analysis.
As of 19th September, the average price for a litre of unleaded is 136.15p, down from 141.26p at the start of the month.
Diesel prices have also fallen to an average of 140.87p, down from 145.99p.
These reductions mean that filling up a family car now costs nearly £4 less than before.
The last time prices dropped this quickly was late last year, although current prices are lower than at that time.
Supermarkets are currently offering petrol for about 133.23p and diesel for 137.69p, with prices in Northern Ireland even lower.
The RAC anticipates that average pump prices could reach a three-year low by the end of September, potentially dropping to 132p for petrol and 138p for diesel.
The decline in prices is attributed to a combination of lower oil prices and a stronger pound, which helps UK fuel retailers purchase stock more affordably.
