Supersonic aircraft maker Exosonic announced that the company is winding down. After more than five years of pursuing quiet supersonic travel and supersonic drone development, the company said it could not find the traction necessary to continue its journey.
“Although the founders and team still believe in the need/desire for quiet supersonic flight and supersonic drones for the U.S. Department of Defense, without further customer support for either concept, the company cannot sustain the cash needs to make further advancements,” the company wrote in a notice on its website.
Supersonic wrote that it had developed three vehicles, including a quiet supersonic airliner named Horizon, the supersonic UAV named Revenant and the subscale supersonic UAV named Trident, which the company flew this past April.
Additionally, the company thanked its employees, investors and commercial and government customers that provided funding to explore supersonic transport and drone development for the DoD.
The company also voiced its support for other companies pursuing super and hypersonic innovations, such as Boom Supersonic, Hermeus, Destinus, Venus Aerospace, Spectre Aerospace.
Exosonic asked any company interested in acquiring the IP it has generated to email it at [email protected].
