A dedicated team from SSEN Transmission’s Crossaig substation project has helped remove 185kg of marine litter from Dalintober Harbour, Campbeltown, in a hands-on environmental effort to protect Scotland’s coastal ecosystems.
Nine volunteers from SSEN Transmission and its principal contractor BAM partnered with the local Kintyre Coastal Network (KCN) to collect debris strewn along the shoreline, including tyres, fishing gear, and even traffic cones.
The clean-up supports the wider 275kV Argyll and Kintyre Reinforcement Project, designed to boost renewable energy transmission and improve energy resilience across the region.
The activity forms part of SSEN Transmission’s broader environmental and community support initiatives, which run alongside major infrastructure upgrades, including the new 275kV Crossaig substation.
This development is crucial to Scotland’s net zero ambitions, enabling more renewable energy to flow from the Argyll peninsula and supporting growing demand across the region.
