Octopus Energy has announced an integration with Tesla Powerwall, allowing customers to use low cost energy via its Kraken platform.
This collaboration enables Powerwall owners to optimise energy consumption by using inexpensive, clean power from the grid during off-peak times and selling excess energy during peak demand, managed by Kraken.
The integration provides access to Octopus Energy’s range of smart tariffs, including the ‘Intelligent Octopus Flux’ tariff, which adjusts energy usage based on real-time pricing.
This flexibility is expected to save average customers £250 annually compared to standard tariffs for energy import and export.
Octopus Energy has also gained certification to install Tesla Powerwall units across the UK and Spain.
The company plans to expand its workforce by hiring up to 4,000 new team members in the UK to support these initiatives.
Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, Chief Product and Marketing Officer at Octopus Energy, said: “Two energy tech giants are coming together to get the most out of clean tech in people’s homes.
“Now that Powerwall is integrated into Kraken, it will pass on further savings for customers while helping to balance the grid.”
Colby Hastings, Director of Residential Energy at Tesla, said: “This integration of Powerwall with Octopus Energy will increase value for homeowners while maintaining an excellent product experience.”
