Octopus Energy and Thakeham have announced a partnership to create homes with no energy bills. This agreement was signed at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool.
The aim is to deliver 100,000 ‘Zero Bills’ homes by 2030.
Thakeham previously piloted this initiative at a development in Burgess Hill, and plans are underway for a new project of 1,350 homes in West Sussex.
Thakeham manages land for over 45,000 homes.
The ‘Zero Bills’ scheme incorporates technologies, including solar panels and heat pumps, allowing residents to avoid energy bills for five to ten years.
Greg Jackson, Founder of Octopus Energy, commented: “This is a huge step forward for us in making ‘Zero Bills’ the new norm. By teaming up with Thakeham, we’re creating homes that cost nothing to run while also making a significant dent in the UK’s carbon footprint.
