Octopus Energy has announced the relaunch of its electric blanket scheme, offering an extra 20,000 free blankets to support vulnerable customers this winter.
The initiative, which began in January 2022, has already distributed over 60,000 blankets.
The scheme, funded by Octopus’s £30 million Octo Assist Fund, aims to help customers reduce heating costs.
Previous data shows that customers using electric blankets saw a 20% reduction in gas bills while increasing their electricity usage by only 0.2%, leading to an average saving of £150 over three months.
The scheme is available to all Octopus Energy customers, with priority given to those who are medically vulnerable, elderly, or living alone.
Mario Lupori, Director at Octopus Energy Group, commented: “We know many people are worried about the costs of heating their homes over winter.
“An electric blanket means you heat the human, not the home – staying warm for as little as 3p an hour.”
