The Nissan Qashqai was the UK’s best-selling and fastest-selling used car in February, according to the latest Indicata Market Watch report.
The result marks the first time a single model has achieved both distinctions in the report’s history, while also securing its position as the UK’s best-selling used car for a second consecutive month.
Qashqai hits dealer sweet spot
The Qashqai’s continued dominance highlights its enduring appeal across both dealers and consumers, particularly in key price brackets and fuel types.
Dean Merritt, national retail strategy manager at Indicata, said: “The Qashqai has been a popular used car on our MarketPlace online wholesale auction platform since its launch in 2007.
“The newer petrol hybrid and electric model with range extender are popular as are the previous model petrol and diesel models up to eight years of age. Qashqais that retail at between £10,000-£15,000 are in the current sweet spot for dealer forecourts.”
EV stock reaches 10% milestone
Indicata reported that used car sales remained strong across the first two months of 2026, with a gradual shift towards electrified vehicles.
Electric vehicles and hybrids increased their combined market share, while diesel fell by four percentage points to 24%, signalling the first significant sign of declining demand for the fuel type in the used sector.
Used EV stock reached a record 10% share of the UK market in February, suggesting increasing volumes of ex-fleet, lease and salary sacrifice vehicles are now entering the used channel.
“It will be interesting to see if this rise in used EV stock continues following the arrival of the 26-plate. Electric cars achieved a record 16.2% market share in March 2023 and if they are on three-year contracts will be coming back into the used market in either March or April 2026,” said Merritt.
