National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) has helped 21,000 customers in fuel poverty save a total of £22 million over the last year.

The savings were made by offering debt assistance, benefit applications support and energy efficiency advice, according to its 2024/25 Annual Vulnerability Report, which showcases significant support for vulnerable customers across the Midlands, South West and South Wales.

Additionally, the company delivered £4.8 million in low carbon transition savings for nearly 5,000 vulnerable households, enabling access to smart energy solutions and grants.

The Priority Services Register (PSR), a free tailored support service for those most in need, now covers 76% of eligible households — the highest reach to date.

NGED also awarded £1 million to 247 grassroots organisations through its Community Matters Fund, benefiting more than 40,000 people.

Emma Pamplin, Director of Customer Excellence at NGED said: “Undoubtedly, 2024/25 has been an exceptional year. We have implemented innovative new technology in our contact centres, supported around 2.6 million Priority Services Register (PSR) customers and battled the worst storm our network has ever faced.”

The report also highlights NGED’s winter preparedness strategy, improvements to digital infrastructure and expanded outreach through trusted partners including Kidney Care UK and the Warm Welcome Campaign.
