Britain’s biggest energy supplier and its biggest property platform are joining forces to make green homes easier to spot and easier to buy as demand for low carbon tech surges.

Rightmove says listings mentioning heat pumps are up 46% and references to solar panels are up 37% in a year, showing buyers are actively hunting for cleaner tech.

Octopus Energy’s research backs it up with nine in ten heat pump owners saying they are happy with the switch and most reporting homes as warm or warmer than before.

Now the two giants are rolling out tools to help home-movers understand how green tech cuts bills and lifts property values. The first step is a new Zero Bills label on Rightmove listings highlighting homes powered by Octopus’ no-bills tariff.

Zero Bills guarantees households no energy bills for five to ten years in homes fitted with a heat pump, solar panels and a battery.

Moving from a typical EPC D home to a Zero Bills property could save buyers more than £2,350 a year according to Rightmove.

Octopus founder Greg Jackson said: “Most people now know someone benefitting from a cost slashing electric car and savvy homeowners are starting to search for houses with solar panels and heat pumps too.”

Rightmove boss Johan Svanstrom said the partnership will help home-movers “navigate to a greener future” and boost adoption of clean technology.
